4.0 out of 5 stars. Princeton Tec SnapReviewed by Kuro from CA on Friday, October 18, 2024This is a rather unique headlamp that allows for a multitude of uses and includes all the mounts instead of offering them as separate accessories. The design is excellent for the multipurpose light and the magnetic mounting is absolutely secure. There is really no way it will fall out of the mounts unless there is a significant impact like crashing a bicycle at high speed.
The light features a dimmer that really has an excellent range from 300 lumens to "moonlight" mode, which is around 1 lumen or less. In dimmest form, you can even look at the emitter directly and this is a good alternative to a red LED. Speaking of which, it would seem this product would include a red emitter given the lens design but it does not. It only has a single white emitter (cold-neutral in color temp). It also does not have brightness memory so if you turn it off, it will turn back on at a preset brightness, which I estimate is about 80% output. Some people might not like the lack of brightness memory.
The light beam is wide and diffused, which is good for general use but not great for distance lighting. As a multipurpose light, the wide beam makes sense.
Overall, this is an innovative light that can serve different uses and comes with a bicycle mount, lantern mount w/ clip, and a headlamp mount. It's made in the USA but very affordable on Sierra.

4.0 out of 5 stars. PTec BotReviewed by Kuro from CA on Saturday, March 23, 2024Great little headlamp for kids. I got this for my 8 year old niece and she really liked it. While the 15 lumen rating appears very low on paper, it offers usable light without blinding others. In the dark, the light is adequate and suitable for children.
The build quality is top notch and does not feel like a toy despite the color and style. Material and build quality is just like my PTec Byte, which I have owned and used for a decade. Princeton Tec are well-built, American-made products that offer reliability and longevity instead of chasing outlandish specs in lumens and such.
The only thing that might frustrate users is that the battery cover has a small Phillips screw. This is to prevent kids from accessing the batteries and minimize risks such as swallowing the batteries. However, by the time a child is old enough to use and appreciate a headlamp, this is likely not a concern. Definitely not for my niece.
While battery life and output specs aren’t impressive, this is a high quality headlamp intended for and ideal for younger kids. -
5.0 out of 5 stars. Simply the best headlamp availableReviewed by Backpacker Dan from PNW on Tuesday, March 1, 2022Princeton Tec EOS is the best headlamp available on the market. There's a reason they're used by the US Military. I've had other leading name brand headlamps fail at the worst times (a long hike in the dark and while exploring in a cave). I'll never trust those brands again. Princeton Tec EOS has never let me down and will continue to be my go-to headlamp.
