Most Helpful 3-Star Review

3.0 out of 5 stars. Comfy enough but constructed for short-term wear
Reviewed by Outer Avenues from San Francisco on Tuesday, October 8, 2024
Much of the waistband on these is constructed from a soft stretchy knit, and there's neither a drawstring nor belt loops. It certainly felt gentle on my waist, but I knew I'd be tugging on these all day long, and the elastic was very mild so would undoubtedly stretch after no time at all. The black material also picked up lint almost immediately (from being folded back up on the knit coverlet on my bed), so it seems that these are made from short-fibered material. I have an ample behind but minimal hips and there was a bulge at the hips with these pants. All three of these flaws made me send these pants back. I did like the cinchable legs: a useful touch although not very flattering when cinched. The pants legs revert to looking totally normal when they're uncinched, so that's a plus.

About Royal Robbins

By the late-1960s, veteran Yosemite rock climber Royal Robbins and his wife Liz had grown tired of wearing cutoff jeans on the crag. At the time, apparel designed specifically for outdoor adventure was virtually non-existent. After years of wishing for something better, the couple finally decided to create their own, starting with a pair of climbing shorts called the “Billy Goat.” This was the beginning of Royal Robbins’ clothing revolution. Today, nearly 50 years later, Royal Robbins outdoor clothing is as rugged and reliable as ever. When you buy a Royal Robbins sweater or shirt, or a Royal Robbins pair of pants or shorts, you can bet it will fit great, whether you’re climbing in the Sierra Nevadas, camping in the backcountry or relaxing in your own backyard.
